Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Rahul is interested in exploring the nexus of health, science, and policy. He has conducted biomedical research at Rice and at the MD Anderson Cancer Center as a Goldwater Scholar, spent a summer working at the National Science Foundation, and teaches an undergraduate course on public policy. Deeply passionate about scientific outreach, he founded the Research Mentorship Initiative, a grant-winning nonprofit organization with a mission to introduce inner-city students to scientific research. Rahul has also worked to link biomedical science with health policy as a national Senior Fellow at the Roosevelt Institute Campus Network, where he helped develop a healthcare toolkit that has reached hundreds of thousands of college seniors nationwide. Rahul's goal as a public servant is singular: to serve as a civic scientist.
