As of February 18th, all participants in the Truman Scholarship Competition should have received emails notifying them of their status. Emails to Finalists were sent by February 16th. Emails to those not selected were sent on February 18th.
Information for Finalists:
You must confirm your participation by February 21. If you have not received your Finalist email, please contact Deputy Executive Secretary Tara Yglesias.
You should arrive at your interview location promptly (generally 8:30 a.m.) for a reception with the Panelists and the other Finalists. You will be given the time for your interview at the close of the reception. You should plan to stay until 5:30 p.m. in the event that the Panel wishes to call you for a second interview. Arrival and departure times for some panels differ; check Regional Review Panels for scheduled times.
The listing of Finalists shows their e-mail addresses. You might want to contact other Finalists being interviewed with you to set up a dinner the night before, to share a room or a taxi to the interview, etc. Many of you probably have similar values and concerns.
Also by Friday, March 1, please email the Foundation a recent photo (passport-sized head shot, minimum size of 2' x 2' to maximum size of 3' x 5', approximately 75 dpi). Please include in the email your name and interview location. The Foundation will post this photo on its website in the event of your selection as a Truman Scholar. This photo should be of you alone; do not send group photos. Please do not send an out-of-date or otherwise unsuitable photo. Please send the photo to trumanfinalistphotos@gmail.com.
Remember to bring a photo ID with you to the interviews. Many of the panels are held in federal buildings and you will need an ID to enter and go through security.
You may wish to review our list of Practice Questions for the Truman Interview. While there is no guarantee these questions will be asked, the list does give an idea of the type of questions that you can expect during your interview. You might also review the FAQ on the Truman Interview process.
